Online History Tutor - G.C.E. O/L

Sharper Minds is an online education initiative developed by Sharper Labs Academy (Pvt) Ltd, with the aim of making quality education more accessible, engaging and flexible for students across Sri Lanka.

As we prepare to launch our online learning platform, we are building a team of knowledgeable, passionate and committed tutors who can support students in achieving their academic goals.

We are inviting applications from qualified teachers, experienced private tutors, university graduates and suitable subject specialists to join us as Online History Tutors for G.C.E. O/L students.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct engaging and structured online tuition sessions for G.C.E. O/L students in History.
• Explain subject concepts clearly and adapt teaching methods to students’ learning needs.
• Support students with examination preparation, revision, assignments and practice activities.
• Monitor student participation and academic progress.
• Provide a professional, supportive and student-focused learning experience.
• Maintain punctuality, reliability and effective communication with students and the Sharper Minds team.
• Follow the organisation’s teaching standards, safeguarding requirements and relevant policies.

Previous teaching or tutoring experience will be an advantage. However, suitably qualified graduates with strong communication skills and teaching potential are also encouraged to apply.

Essential Requirements

Applicants should demonstrate:

• Strong knowledge of History and the relevant G.C.E. O/L syllabus.
• Relevant academic qualifications or demonstrable subject expertise.
• Good verbal communication, presentation and teaching skills.
• The ability to explain complex concepts clearly and effectively.
• A professional, reliable and student-focused approach.
• Confidence in using computers and online teaching technology.
• Access to a reliable internet connection and suitable equipment for online lessons.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• A willingness to comply with Sharper Minds’ teaching standards, safeguarding requirements and professional expectations.

The ability to teach in Sinhala, Tamil or English will be considered according to subject requirements and student demand.

Opportunities to provide online tuition through Sharper Minds under an agreed independent tutoring arrangement.

Suitable candidates may also be considered for employment opportunities, subject to available positions and the relevant selection and contractual requirements.

Recruitment and Selection Process

Shortlisted applicants may be required to complete the following stages:

1. Initial application and qualification screening.
2. Review of relevant teaching experience and subject expertise.
3. Online interview with the recruitment team.
4. Subject assessment or demonstration lesson, where appropriate.
5. Reference and safeguarding checks, as applicable.
6. Completion of the relevant agreement and onboarding process.
